I'm (I should say was) a political strategist aka hired gun/policy wonk/campaigner extraordinaire by trade and I've been involved with over 90 political/issue oriented campaigns throughout the country, the UK, Spain and France. I've lived in California, the District of Columbia & Texas.
So I've been rather busy for say the last year or two ok 4 but working in politics leaves no time for the following: breathing, sleeping, shopping (ok I did make time for this), relaxing, visiting home, dating, having a normal life and almost all the little things. The traveling is incessant, the people we meet are always interesting and seeing legislation passed that makes a difference is probably the most amazing feeling in the world but the wheeling and dealing of it all sucks (no eloquent way to put it).
Funny tidbits about policy wonks: we measure long term relationships by election cycles, we know how to pack a wk's worth of clothes into an itty bitty duffle bag, dating in different time zones is an art form to us and we shouldn't keep pets in fear of killing them by accidently forgetting we have them (which has happened-frequently but not to me).
But after having a minor crisis of conscious I've returned to Texas my home, the only state in the country that has every eco-system (except Artic) within it borders. So I've turned in my tailored suits for organic cotton and I've taken a deep breathe, my first real breathe in a long time to be honest. Now I have a nice house in San Antonio, I get to sleep more than 4hrs a night, have 2 shar-peis (Tonks & Penny Jane) and just started a new company.
My new company is off to a rough but very susccessful start. While I was concentrating more on Texas politics (which is as dangerous as visiting the Middle East & not so eco-friendly) I accidentally branched out into the Sustainable/Enviromental/Eco-Education field. Which is great since I can work on policy I believe in and there is a potential of a new Eco-Retail shop that I may open in Texas...weird I know but what an idea.
As for me I'm a music loving, book collecting, dog-loving, amateur photographer, reformed sorority girl (aka-serial dater), hybrid-life living policy wonk Buddhist. Yep that's me in a nut shell.
